A shot of coffee for your skin
We all know the benefits of sipping on a good cup of coffee, but do you know what the beans can do for your skin?
The team at Frank Body does and have created the coolest collection of amazing and all natural products.
It all started back in 2013, when Steve Rowley - the owner of a few cafes in Melbourne - had some customers asking for old coffee grinds to make a body exfoliant.
He told his partner Bree Johnson about it who was curious and along with Erika Geraerts, Jess Hatzis and Alex Boffa started experimenting. That's when Frank Body was born.
So why coffee?
“In its freshly roasted and ground form, coffee is a great natural exfoliator that buffs away dry, dead skin cells and encourages skin rejuvenation,” the Frank Body team says.
“Coffee has the same PH as your skin which means it won’t leave you feeling dry or oily."
It’s also a bit of a fixer.
“When caffeine is applied topically to the skin it can stimulate blood-flow which may help to reduce the appearance of cellulite, stretch marks, psoriasis, eczema and other skin conditions,” the team says.
“It’s also packed with antioxidants which target free radicals - the things that cause many of those pesky skin conditions just mentioned.”
Trialling the products led the team to discover certain ingredients benefit skin conditions.
“Coconut oil is bursting with anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and antibacterial properties which makes it great at targeting breakouts and skin infections,” the team says,
“Almond and grape seed oils contain linoleum acid which helps to tighten and tone skin as well as treating skin imperfections naturally."
“We cut through the fluff of the beauty industry and are honest about what we are asking you to put on your skin - we are frank."
