Event recap: Fashion, beauty and luxe living
It's always a pleasure attending an event with fashion, beauty and the most extensive grazing platter on the menu.
The attractive trio was all part of the launch of Sapphire Kingston, the last block of apartments to be built on the oh so exclusive waterfront.
Walking in to the showroom of property developer Keggins, you were hit with a model of what the apartment building would look like before moving further inside to the food (I went straight for the sweet stuff) and then to the bar for a glass of bubbles.
Aside from talking high end real estate, the event was about showcasing high end fashion inspired by Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.
While a lot of the pieces making their way down the catwalk were the ones I see in my dreams - Zimmerman for example - the show also revealed what we'll be wearing in the coming seasons, but it can be adapted and worn now.
Think a cute little pink slip dress with a faux fur coat or a black dress with a trench. You can probably add a coat on top of any dress as you venture out into the cold.
Burnt orange was a common colour and we saw stripes and embroidery. The cut out shoulders trend is lingering and one of my favourites - sensational statement sleeves - are staying put.
As for the beauty it was all about the skin.
Flawless faces with a touch of highlighter, keeping the heavy contouring away which made for a nice change to what's often featured down a catwalk.
The smokey eye was subtle and a mix of peach and plum shades depending on the model's skin tone.
Lips were nude, some matte, some glossy. I love a glossy lip because it makes that nude really stand out and I think adds a little something extra to your look, that's so simple to do.
Hair was down and straight for the show, again minimal and effortless which is what we're all about with our beauty looks, not only in Winter, but in the warmer months.
In Winter the focus should be on keeping skin hydrated because the cold air and wind, not to mention heaters cranked at home and at work, dry out our skin.
Check out this recent post on how best to keep your skin hydrated in the cooler months.
Now if your budget doesn't restrict you, you can find all the pieces featured in the show, (organised by the ladies from The Fashion Vault) at David Jones and if you're in the market for a luxury piece of waterfront real estate, click here.
