My verdict: Khair pep peptide hair treatment

I had such wonderful pregnancy hair. It was thick and strong and luscious if I do say so myself. It also didn’t fall out.

Cue around 3 months after giving birth and it started coming out in clumps when I brushed my hair, ran my hands through it and don’t get me started on how much I lost when I washed my hair.

I knew the time would come when I’d lose my good pregnancy hair so in anticipation, I used leave in treatments, heat protectant sprays, washed my hair less often, relying on dry shampoo, but still, it eventually went limp and dry.

So when I was contacted to try Khairpep, the timing could not have been better.

What it is

Khairpep is all about the K18 peptide that penetrates the hair shaft to repair the bond (known as the disulphide bond) that’s responsible for keeping hair strong.

The peptide works with amino acids to also add elasticity, repairing bleached, coloured and heat styled hair.

It doesn’t wash out when you wash your hair (because it’s made its way into the layers of your hair) so will keep working to improve the health of your hair.

So that’s the science behind the treatment.

There are two choices in the range. The hair repair masque is a leave in treatment. Its focus is on moisture and smoothing. The serum is also a leave in treatment and is about adding volume and texture. You can combine the two.

I used the serum.

The instructions say to shampoo but not condition, then apply the serum onto towel dried hair, detangle with your fingers or a comb, wait 4 minutes and style as usual.

For the best results, it’s recommended to use it for 3 or 4 shampoos in a row then periodically to maintain the health and quality of your hair. It’s suitable for all hair types but if you colour or bleach your hair, check with your hairdresser to be on the safe side.

I followed the instructions and have used the treatment 3 times.

My verdict

I don’t have overly voluminous hair normally and I straighten it after every wash so there was a little heat damage there.

I have definitely noticed my hair is stronger and in better condition. I haven’t had it cut since February (because I have a baby) so the ends looked dry and now they look more moisturised and less ratty.

I also have this weird frizz section on the left side that has been tamed.

My hair is easier to style and manage and overall looks and feels healthier. I hope the photos do it justice.

Not conditioning made my hair harder to comb, even after applying the serum, so it required a little more care and took more time.

I love that it’s in spray form because it doesn’t get all over your hands but you have to take extra care to make sure you evenly apply it. It’s lightweight and didn’t leave my hair looking oily.

I recommend it. The salon only product was gifted to me by Luxury Beauty Concepts. It is the exclusive Aussie distributor and you can contact them to find out where to get it at You can also send an Instagram DM @khairpepaustralia.
