My verdict: Savvy Sonic cleansing brush

I have wanted to try a cleansing brush for so long – one that vibrates and massages and makes me feel like I’m having a super relaxing but quick facial every day.

So, when Island Skin offered to send me a Savvy Sonic, I obviously said yes and thank you very much.

Here’s what it is

A rechargeable cleansing brush that’s waterproof, has a heating function, is hypoallergenic, made of medical grade silicone, is antibacterial, needs no replacement heads and gives off up to 10,000 vibrations per minute.

There are 7 speeds for those vibrations to give your skin a deep clean and gentle exfoliation.

When you choose the thermal heat mode, it opens and softens the pores which then allows the products you use to penetrate deeper into the layers of the skin.

One side is for cleansing where you apply a foaming cleanser – other types like an oil or milk cleanser won’t be as effective – and the other side is for massaging your beauty products in. Move the brush in an upward direction. You don’t want to be yanking your skin down.

The shape of the brush allows you to reach all areas of the face even under the eyes with the very tip of it.

The Savvy Sonic doesn’t need batteries. It comes with a USB and is compatible with an iPhone charger.

How I use it

After cleansing for 30 to 40 seconds, I apply my skincare products and then use the heating function to massage them in. This is the anti-ageing function that’s about promoting collagen production in the skin which decreases as we get older. The more collagen in the skin, the plumper and healthier it looks.

Island Skin has also released a range of all natural skincare products which I was also sent. I used the cleanser, toner and exfoliant. I couldn’t use the moisturiser because it contains Vitamin A and I’m breastfeeding my son.

The cleanser is gel based and naturally exfoliates, removing bacteria from the surface of the skin.

The toning mist contains aloe vera and behaves like an AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) that is a really effective exfoliant. It also contains Vitamin C which helps minimise the appearance of pigmentation.

The scrub is a physical exfoliant containing rosehip powder that removes dead cells and minimises pores. It’s not for use with the Savvy Sonic, just your hands.

My verdict

The Savvy Sonic is brilliant. After cleansing, my skin feels nice and clean. The bristles on the cleansing side are really soft.

My favourite part of the brush is the heated massage. I feel like I’m treating my skin every time I use it and love that it’s boosting the production of collagen.

I love that you can control the speed of the brush so if it’s feeling too harsh, take it down a notch. You have complete control and can tailor it to suit you.

My skin is softer and smoother and while I use good quality beauty products, I am convinced they’re working better thanks to the Savvy Sonic. I can see my skin looks healthier.

I really like the toning mist that can also be used to set your makeup or just refresh your skin throughout the day.

While I like the cleanser and exfoliant, I have a cleanser and use a chemical exfoliant (find out about the difference between a physical and chemical exfoliant here.) Both products were recommended to me by my skin specialist to tackle my pigmentation and slow down the ageing process so that’s why I’ll stick with those.

The Savvy Sonic is $139 and worth the investment. There’s free shipping worldwide and afterpay is available.

This is not a sponsored post but the Savvy Sonic and skincare trial pack were gifted to me.
