What we'll be wearing in Spring
Floral, muted tones, black and white, feminine, flowing and off shoulder - that's just some of what's on trend as we approach Spring.
Myer has held its S16 runway show and led by the always incredible Jennifer Hawkins, we got a taste of what'll be featuring in some of our favourite stores.
The fashion extravaganza opened with Maticevski and we saw lots of black and white with gorgeous dresses. Jen showed off the black Vanquished gown - short in the front and long at the back which I am in love with. It was pure glamour and the detail including ruffles and folds was insanely beautiful.
Aje went casual with plaid and a lot of off shoulder. Pucci was all colour with clash print, bright patterns and head scarves.
By Johnny went bold with metallic and ruffles, mixing edgy with feminine, incorporating ruffles and doing it to perfection.
Self Portrait took the show in a completely different direction with floral prints, lace, patterns, navy blue, aqua, high wasted pants, high neck dresses and tops and asymetrical skirts - a real feast for our eyes.
Georgia Alice devoted her palette to black and white spots, while White Suede went a little out there, wrapping the models faces in white mesh and tying it with a pretty black bow.
As for the fashion, the theme was romantic wonderland and it was pretty much all white, lace, sheer, dainty and feminine like straight out of a fairytale.
Misha Collection followed with the same understated colour scheme in white, cream and champagne. There was plenty of pretty lace detail, off shoulder tops and a mix of three quarter and short skirts plus high waisted pants.
Cue and Morrison were all floral with pink and plum. The bell sleeve is here to stay in Spring thanks to Sass & Bide that also gave us stripes and distressed denim. Roshanda brought in some oversized sleeves, adding eggplant to the Spring colour scheme.
Oscar de la Renta didn't disappoint showcasing a green floral pattern and elaborate headpieces. Yeojin Bae opted for structured, streamlined and some colour bringing green, red and pale pink to the runway,
As for swimwear, Jen's brand Cozi was all about the sailor, models rocking black, white, navy and stripes, topping it off with sailor hats. If that's not for you, Seafolly has hot pink, red and white stripes and burnt orange in its collection.
Alex Perry closed the show and he went for a darker aesthetic with his designs. There was an abundance of lace, short and long flowing dresses in red, black, light blue and a whole lot of khaki.
Jen was last to leave the runway so we had plenty time to admire the black sequin number from Alex Perry's Le Chat Noir collection
The finale was a beautiful kaleidoscope of colours and styles. There's not just one thing that'll dominate this Spring with with plenty of floral, sheer fabrics, lace, ruffles, structured pants, free flowing dresses and tops, skirts of all different lengths, a lot of black and white with plenty of plum and patterns thrown in there as well.
Variety is in.
